Cardiovascular Surgery Specialist Dr. Kadir Çeviker at Private Gazi Hospital provided information about "Minimal Invasive Heart Surgery" (Small incision), one of the modern surgical techniques.

Is the breastbone cut?

In classical heart surgeries, the breastbone is completely cut from the front. In the small incision method, surgery is performed by entering only from a small 5-6 cm area under the armpit or between the ribs. The breastbone remains completely intact.

Which surgeries can be performed with this method?

Valve replacements, closing heart holes, and some bypass surgeries can be successfully performed with this method.

What advantages does it provide to the patient?

The biggest advantage is that the patient can return to their normal life within 4-5 days after surgery. While the patient has to lie on their back for months in classical surgery, in small incision, the patient can lie on their side, drive, and even button their own shirt buttons. Additionally, the risk of bleeding and infection is much lower.

Can it be applied to every patient?

This should be decided after an expert physician's examination and advanced imaging. Our basic priority is to provide this comfort to all patients whose heart vessel structure is suitable.
