Op. Dr. Erel Uluğ, 1999 yılında Ege Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi’nden mezun olmuştur. Pratisyen hekimlik görevlerinin ardından 2004 yılında İzmir Tepecik Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi Beyin ve Sinir Cerrahisi Kliniği’nde uzmanlık eğitimine başlamış ve 2009 yılında tamamlamıştır. Uzmanlık eğitimi süresince beyin, omurga ve sinir cerrahisi alanlarında çeşitli klinik ve akademik çalışmalarda bulunmuştur.
Mecburi hizmetini Tokat Niksar Devlet Hastanesi’nde tamamlayan Dr. Uluğ, daha sonra özel ve kamu hastanelerinde Beyin ve Sinir Cerrahisi Uzmanı olarak görev yapmıştır. 2015-2018 yılları arasında Bursa Karacabey Devlet Hastanesi’nde çalışmış, ardından İzmir’deki özel sağlık kuruluşlarında mesleki faaliyetlerini sürdürmüştür.
Dr. Uluğ’un Türk Nöroşirürji Dergisi, Türk Onkoloji Dergisi ve Türkiye Klinikleri gibi dergilerde yayımlanmış çok sayıda bilimsel makalesi bulunmaktadır. Klinik ilgi alanları arasında beyin tümörleri, bel ve boyun fıtıkları, omurga cerrahisi, sinir sıkışmaları ve kafa travmaları yer almaktadır. Halen İzmir Özel Gazi Hastanesi’nde Beyin ve Sinir Cerrahisi Uzmanı olarak görev yapmaktadır.
